Photography is a game of chance. The mind, the eye and the heart, dance in the light to highlight and frame fragments of time. Freezing shadows, tones, highlights and shades, producing these mysterious ambiguous images, distorted frozen mirror that we sometimes like to call memories.
Photography has been a great passion for me since i was a young teen. since my dad gave me responsibility to be the boss of the video tape and photography family memories archive at 14. I have been learning and enjoying the art of freezing mirrors, and creating ambiguous random access memories. I have learned by doing, and also by taking classes during my undergraduate fine arts program at the Andes university, and also at Labloom school of photography in Bogota Colombia.
Photography of ancient Latin American masks made with materials extracted by fishermen from the sea. the pictures are a selection of some of these amazing mysterious masks. they are believed to have been used for ritualistic magical purposes, which are still subject of study by anthropologists and experts in ancient cultures, as the late Mr Alonso Restrepo, owner, collector and researcher of this treasure.
A link to a very good article about the life and work of Alonso, and about this amazing project:
