Welcome to the intermedia random lab!
A playful experimental space to share ideas about life, art and chance!
Is random random?
How random can things be?
This virtual place is a place to display the results and process of different playful experiments I have been doing, with different media and ideas. As you will see, my main obsession and love has been the tension between chaos and order. The series you will see in the work section of this site, are all related to the idea of chance, and its nature. They intend to leave some sort of hint about it’s nature. The idea is to also address questions that will eventually lead us to new horizons. And to do so, playing with different tools and languages, and also interesting results from an aesthetic point of view.
You can say I’m a Multimedia artist, Photographer, and also a creative technologist and educator. But more important, I’m a very curious person, who fell in love with dice and art.
I fell in love with dice years ago, as they are the most simple, sophisticated, mysterious and beautiful devices ever used to generate unpredictable outcomes that we like to call “random”.
Why dice?
Because their nice, and cool as ice! We can know them well, but we will never be sure about their next move!
Like life itself!
In my work and life, I love surprises. And I like when they break the habitual routine.
I enjoy random events in life, and wonder why they happened.
I like to look for the extraordinary in what may look ordinary at first sight. To explore the tension between order and chaos, by experimenting with different means.
In the process of exploring the nature of chance, we can also have fun, and do beautiful interesting and wacky things!
How crazy are they? Please see for yourself and please let me know what they made you think!
In this website you will find the documentation with the most relevant results of the process of these experiments. This intends to be a platform to share thoughts, findings, new questions and horizons that arise in the process of making them. With my work, I hope to trigger dialogue with the public, and to make room for a positive aesthetic experience to any “random” visitor, or “not random at all” visitor. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you can come back many times, as there is a lot to be done yet! Take your time and enjoy your visit! Thank you for your time, I would also love to hear any of your thoughts, impressions, ideas, feedback, critiques, etc…
